Edition No. 10: May, 2024
It's May! We're back, and so are you for another edition of The Swell (it really does mean a lot that you're here)! May is full-on with IRL identity events. Of course, the big ones are RSA and Identiverse, so we'll be talking about those here. Also, CyberArk is front and center in this issue; we'll show you how to make those old apps work in your modern IAM world.
Last but certainly not least, discover who's in the Maverics spotlight this month. May the 4th be with you on Saturday — if you celebrate. Read on, friends! _________________________________________
WORKSHOP
Modernization with CyberArk
Don't miss CyberArk as our featured partner and guest on the next episode of the Orchestration Kitchen. We'll be cooking up a recipe to show you how to protect your legacy apps with CyberArk Identity — even those that don't 'speak' modern protocols or are hosted on-prem. See how to implement advanced security services like CyberArk MFA without compromising your existing access policies.
The countdown is on for RSAC 2024. Will you be there? Strata Identity's Fiesta is an annual fan favorite, and this one will be no exception! When you leave the Moscone on Monday evening, join us around the corner at Tropisueno Mexican Kitchen for 🌮 tacos, tequila (or fancy soda), and great conversations. AND all who attend will be entered to win a Remarkable2!
When: Monday, May 6th | 5 - 9 pm PDT Where: Tropisueno, 75 Yerba Buena Ln, SF
Identiverse, arguably the biggest event in the identity industry, is coming up later this month in Las Vegas! On Thursday, May 30 at 10:30 am, CyberArk and Strata Identity will be on stage presenting a masterclass entitled Transforming Identity: No-Code Solutions for Ditching Legacy and Embracing Modern IAM. What do a vintage 1970 Chevelle, an electric crate motor, and enterprise identity have in common? Join this Coffee, Cars, and Identity-style workshop to find out!
When you're in the expo hall, be sure to stop by booth #1310. We'll show you how get off the identity treadmill, integrate multi-generational IAM, and become an identity hero! (Spoiler: you may just find the most sought-after swag of the event as well!)
Mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures (M&As) need a unified approach to identity management. Addressing the integration of different identity providers should be a top priority to ensure secure, uninterrupted access for all users. One tip is prioritizing user experience to minimize disruption and maintain productivity, ensuring seamless access and simplified login processes. Learn how to transition identity providers between merging companies in the blog post: Managing identity in a merger, acquisition, or divestiture.
What happens when you give engineers one day to solve previously thought unsolvable problems? Patrick describes using a retro snake and coin-based computer game to demonstrate the magic of the identity fabric during Strata Identity’s first-ever Hackathon.
He also shared some of his thoughts about what got him into engineering and advice for someone just starting out:I saw at a young age that with computers, I could build a world for my curiosity to roam. My advice is to be curious and stay optimistic about the future; we are building out on the bleeding edge - doing what is unknown and achieving things previously seen as impossible. We stand on the shoulders of everyone before us, and that knowledge has been exponentially increasing. Technology has changed the world. However, we realize this industry is still in its infancy, and what we have seen so far is just the beginning.
Users can now restrict access by HTTP request methods for header-based apps. Several enhancements to the service extension editing experience were added and the Build Relay State service extension was released. Finally, we've released a set of end-to-end user guides on Docs to help you build a user flow from start to finish.
