Edition No. 11: June, 2024
From RSA to Identiverse and now EIC— what a whirlwind the past few weeks have been! Not surprisingly, much of the focus is around AI in IAM. Don't fear the robots taking over, though; the clear message is that people still matter. We can use AI to help us evolve and improve IAM faster with things that don't need human experience, but innovation requires perspective and reasoning that AI doesn't have. Another key theme of this event season is that settling for good enough no longer cuts it when it comes to continuous security. No amount of risk is acceptable. Identity not only has to come first, it is now the most crucial aspect of your IT infrastructure. At Identiverse, we were talking about this (and how Identity Orchestration can help make an identity hero out of you!)
In this issue of The Swell, we explore the possibilities of a world with Identity Continuity, what matters for modernization in manufacturing, and a chance for you to let your voice be heard on the state of multi-cloud identity. _________________________________________

Identity Continuity
Continuous access to mission-critical apps was once impossible. If you've been following us for any amount of time, you'll know that when we hear 'impossible,' our reaction is "challenge accepted."
Now, with Identity Orchestration, you can maintain access even if your primary identity provider (IDP) fails. Strata's VP of Product and Standards discussed our new Identity Continuity product in this interview at Identiverse.
The latest Orchestration Kitchen episode guides you through maintaining application access—even if your primary identity provider (IDP) fails. Build true failover and continuity into every application to avoid disaster recovery mode and keep employees connected. Join our workshop to learn how to disaster-proof your identity with continuous access.
How an enterprise manufacturer got off the identity treadmill for good
An enterprise global manufacturing company needed to secure all its apps with modern authentication. The catch was an outdated application architecture and a lack of source code for some apps. They thought that would mean refactoring before they could migrate off their on-prem identity provider to a cloud-based one. Find out how they modernized hundreds of apps (without touching any app's code), retired TWO legacy IDPs and realized huge cost savings!
Granville is a highly accomplished and well-recognized IAM professional. True to his Midwestern roots, he's also one of the most dedicated and earnest people you'll ever meet. Here's a bit of his story on what inspired his journey and what propels him now: Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my grandfather. He was an engineer who built many things he owned, and I was always fascinated by everything he built. He taught me the importance of math and encouraged me to take things apart, put them back together, and then try to improve them. This iterative process hooked me, and I’ve been building and improving things ever since.
What truly excites me about my role at Strata is the magnitude of the challenges we're tackling. We’re not just solving difficult problems, we're building solutions that have the potential to impact the lives of billions of people. This sense of purpose and the scale of our work is what keeps me motivated every day.
This month, we've updated the Windows orchestrator installer to guide you more easily through the process of configuring your orchestration. There are also several improvements to the user experience: a new editor for headers and claims, new list views with batch actions, and the API application type now uses the Service Extension editor. You can also now define a single logout (SLO) URL for SAML apps. Read all about product updates in our Docs.
